Which way does the front sprocket go?
They are not directional and I have never seen one that says to flip it “this side out” or anything like that. The front sprocket is almost flat on one side, and counter-sunk on the other side. If you put it on backwards it can rub against your engine cases and cause it to bind.
What is the front sprocket connected to?
engines transmission output shaft
The front sprocket is attached to the engines transmission output shaft with the rear sprocket mounted to the rear wheel. Both sprockets have teeth which slot into the gaps in the motorcycle’s drive chain. The sprockets work in tandem with their teeth engaging between the drive chain links.
What does dropping a tooth on the front sprocket do?
For every 1 tooth that you change on the front sprocket is like changing 3 to 4 teeth on the rear (and that’s true for higher gearing ratios, too). This configuration creates that smaller gearing ratio that works best for tracks with lots of turns, few long straightaways, like Arenacross, and tight trail riding.
Can you put a sprocket on backwards?
Yes, it is on backwards.
What size sprocket is best for wheelies?
If your wanting to do long street wheelies, then a smaller 14t front sprocket and a little clutch dump will do the trick. IMHO , stunting slower stuff with bigger sprockets are A LOT safer than faster wheelies.
Does a bigger sprocket make wheelies easier?
Although the sprocket will make the front end come up with less effort, the bike has plenty of power and torque to wheelie for miles. once you’re at the balance point, power has nothing to do with it. All the sprocket will do for you is make you hit the rev limiter faster and throw your spedo off.
Is chain and sprocket reversible?
Is this possible – or worthwhile? Don’t do it you will destroy the chain and quite possibly the sprockets in the process. Sprockets wear into a hook shape and by reversing them you will cause weird binding of the chain as it tries to overcome the reverse hook plus I suspect you may actually snap sprocket teeth off.
How do I check my handlebar alignment?
Align The Front Wheel There should be a small gap between the rope and the trailing edge of the front tire; that gap should be equal on both sides. Sight down the bike from one side then the other. It will be obvious when the front tire is not pointing straight. Turn the handlebars until it is.
Is belt drive better than chain?
It is evident that the two drives function the same way, but a chain drive is more durable than a belt drive. Unlike belt drives, chain drives can lift and move more massive doors, which is why many prefer it. Chain drives are best for steel carriages and not suitable for less heavy door models.
