How long does the Land Registry take to update title deeds?
The Land Registry advise that processing times for updating the register (adding a mortgage or changing ownership) take about 4 to 6 weeks, and creating a new register (transfer of part or new lease) take about 6 to 9 months.
How long does it take to receive land registry?
More than half are processed in just over a week but in some instances it can take up to a month. However around a fifth of all applications require us to make requests for information (requisitions) – which then take considerably longer, with most only being completed after 6 weeks.

Why would a property not be on the Land Registry?
If your property isn’t registered, it doesn’t mean there is a problem with your ownership – it simply means there hasn’t been a transaction to trigger the requirement to register since it became compulsory for your area. To sell an unregistered property you need to produce the physical title deeds.

Are deeds and land registry the same?
Title deeds / Title register are the same thing, although the plan and register will summarise the old paper deeds. You will be given copies of the paper deeds for reference/interest, if they exist. They aren’t considered important once the title is electronically registered.
